Food Allergy Testing

At Premier Allergy, Asthma and Sinus Care, we offer comprehensive, mostly needle-free food allergy skin testing at your first visit. Expanded food allergy testing may be available in special cases. This procedure consists of small amounts of protein from each allergen to be placed on the most superficial layer of skin to determine the extent of your body’s allergic response. If you have a specific food in mind (i.e. you suspect you have a peanut allergy), please let the staff know as there may be alternative instructions. Your food allergy testing results will be reviewed with you at the time of your visit by the provider. Check with your insurance regarding food allergy testing costs as this can vary with each plan. To skin test, you must be off all antihistamine containing medications for at least 4 days prior to your appointment.

For some patients, blood testing, open food challenges or outside testing may be warranted.
